Wild turkeys also roam the park landscape. Elk, bison and pronghorn were reintroduced in 1911, and are now flourishing in Wind Cave.

The Elk Mountain Campground is open year-round and is the only campground in the park. Sites are first-come, first-served and the campground usually does not fill. Drinking water and flush restrooms are available in the summer months.

We spoke to several park rangers about which tour they recommended. It was unanimous that the Natural Entrance Tour is the best tour to take. You can see the natural entrance of the cave and the extensive boxwork.
