Why is there a shortage of Humminbird fish finders?

Really this whole shortage comes down to decades of manufacturing moving to JIT inventory and supplier consolidation for efficiency and to hammer down costs. This has created a supply chain that has no resilience.

Screen resolution: While both series have an identical display size, Solix models have a higher screen resolution with 1280 x 800 pixels, while Helix models have 1024 x 600 resolution. Bottom line: The higher resolution of Solix models provides higher quality images on the display screen.

Will a Lowrance transducer work on a Humminbird?

That cable is the Motorguide Tour Series Sonar Adapter, part number 8M4001962. This cable is intended for use with a Humminbird fish finder and Motorguide trolling motor with an integrated transducer, but as you will see it works as an adapter cable for a Lowrance transducer as well.

Can you run 2 fish finders off 1 transducer?

Yes, you can use two head units with one transducer but not at the same time. You can also have two transducers with just one head unit, but can only use one transducer at any time. Lowrance/Eagle, and Humminbird have transfer switches and/or networking for that purpose.

Can you test a transducer in a bucket of water?

How deep in the water should a transducer be?

Tip # 3 Waterline

Thirdly the best bet when mounting your transducer to read at speed is to have the bottom of it 3-4 mm below the waterline. Because the transducer can only ping in water so you do want it submerged. If it’s too deep sometimes the front face of it will create turbulence and bubbles = bad.

How do you test a Humminbird transducer?

Can I use my old transducer?

There is often a good chance that your transducer is fine and it’s only the display that has died. Despite the transducer being old there is a chance it may be the same frequency as the new depth sounder.
