Should I gain weight before I start working out?

I typically do not recommend individuals gain weight prior to building muscle. Instead of exceeding their caloric needs, I prefer that they simply meet them.

Do you put on weight straight after exercise?

The degree to which you see an increase on the scale varies from person to person, but at least a slight increase in weight—even after exercise—is normal. Studies have shown that after eating salty foods, most people increase water intake, but do not necessarily produce more urine.
