Is creeping thistle poisonous?

Canada thistle is a native plant to regions of Europe and Asia but is considered noxious everywhere else. It produces nitrate, which can be toxic to your horse if ingested in large quantities. Symptoms of toxicity can range from weakness to convulsions and should be considered a serious medical condition.

Is thistle toxic?

Milk thistle, a regulated Class A noxious weed, is a toxic, branching winter annual or biennial that grows 2-6 feet tall in disturbed areas, such as pastures, roadsides, ditches, and fencerows. Ingestion can cause nitrate poisoning in cattle and sheep.

Can you mow thistles?
