How do you catch a firefly?

To catch a firefly, cover a flashlight with a blue piece of paper and switch it on and off to attract nearby fireflies. Then, once a firefly gets close enough, catch it by carefully cupping it in your hands. You can also use a net to catch fireflies, or you can use a mason jar with a lid.

Can fireflies hurt you?

While fireflies do contain toxins, Lower says they are harmless to humans unless eaten in massive quantities.

How do you catch fireflies in a bottle?

All you have to do is just give them a gentle tap and they'll fall right into the jar.

Why do fireflies not light up in a jar?

Air holes dry out the air in the jar, and fireflies need damp air to survive. There is plenty of air in the jar to keep the insects alive for a day or more.
