What pace should I aim for marathon?

SUB-4:00 (9:09 per mile)

The average was around 1:56. Runners aiming for this time usually have PB times of around 1:45-1:50 for half-marathon and 47-50:00 for 10km. On even pace, runners need to run 45:48 for 5 miles, 91:36 for 10 miles and 2:17:24 for 15 miles, 3:03:12 for 20 miles and 3:49:00 for 25 miles.

How do I determine my marathon pace?

Here’s how it works. Run one mile as fast as you can, middle-school style (don’t barf or die, though). Then to predict your marathon time, take your mile time (in seconds) and multiply by 1.3. The result is your marathon pace per mile, in seconds.

How do I determine my ideal pace?

An easy way to find your baseline pace for long distance runs is by entering a 5K race. To be as accurate as possible, try to choose a race with an even surface and with similar conditions to what you usually train in. Be sure to track the pace time of your last mile. This will be your baseline running pace.

What is a realistic marathon goal?

As an example, if your data point shows you’re in 4:00 shape for the marathon, you’d be looking at a goal time of about 3:45 to 3:50. If you’re more experienced and have been training for many years, then you should expect a 2 to 4% improvement in performance.

What running pace should I aim for?

You don’t need to break into a run until you’re going faster than 15 minutes per mile. Kastor says a new runner can shoot for 12 to 13 minute pace per mile as a good range to start off with, with walk breaks structured in.
