Do fishing rods float?

Majority of rods will float on their own, and if you drop them, there is nothing to worry about. But rods are used with reels that add extra weight, and they are not buoyant. Rod does not have enough buoyancy to keep the reel that is not buoyant on the surface too.

How do you make a fishing rod float?
