For weight loss and fitness, experts say squats are one of the best exercises you should do regularly. It helps engage all core muscle groups, increases stability and strength. However, it is important to maintain the right form for doing this exercise.

Should you do squats if you want to lose weight?

Squats are ideal if you are trying to lose weight because they produce increases in muscle mass in almost all of the muscles of the lower body. In order to achieve optimal results, be sure to do at least 3 sets of 15 repetitions of the squats each day.

How much weight do you lose doing squats?

If you want to lose weight: You need high volume to amp the muscle-building, fat-burning effect. Once or twice a week, perform six sets of five reps of a loaded squat (goblet or back) at 50 to 60 percent of max weight. (Choose a load that feels challenging by the third rep of each set.)
