Why do bodybuilders need to drink so much water?
Water flushes out toxins and other metabolic waste products from the body. Water is especially important when following a “high protein” diet, as it helps remove excess nitrogen, urea (a toxic substance), and ketones. If you’re eating big to gain weight, then you need even more water to help your kidneys do their work.
Why do bodybuilders drink so much water before a competition?
Keeping water and sodium normal in the days prior to an event will maintain physiological homoeostasis and the body will continue to flush excess water and sodium as normal via urine. Trying to trick the body is very risky as it is likely to be smarter than you and fix the problem before competitors step on stage.
Do you need to drink more water if you have more muscle?
