The River WellandRiver Welland flows eastwards through Crowland and Spalding and into the Wash at Fosdyke Bridge, crossing the area of Lincolnshire fenland known as ‘South Holland’. The River Glen rises in the Lincolnshire Limestone Ridge, east of Grantham.
Where does the River Welland flow?
River Welland, river in the eastern Midlands, England. The Welland River rises in the county of Leicestershire and flows eastward past Market Harborough and Stamford for about 70 miles (110 km) into Lincolnshire to enter the southwestern corner of the shallow North Sea inlet called The Wash.
Where is the mouth of the River Welland?

When was Maxey Cut built?
1954
The Maxey Cut is a flood relief channel. For much of the year there is very little flow, but following extreme rainfall the channel can fill almost to the top of the bank. When constructed in 1954, it was a straight, wide, parallel-sided watercourse running between high grass embankments.
