What is the role of a chalet host?

The role of the chalet host is to over see the running of an individual chalet. Your job will include all housekeeping duties and ensuring your guests are well cared for throughout their stay. You will work alongside the chef who will be responsible for running the chalet kitchen.

The work is arduous and non-stop. Every day, they are at the chalet at seven, to serve breakfast. Then they wave the guests off to the slopes and tidy up. They then ski, sleep, snowboard, or stare at Facebook, but they are back by four.

If in a small chalet with only 2 or 3 staff and they have all been good leave a 20e PP (in the party) tip and tell them to share it. If in a larger chalet such as a ‘chalet hotel’, with many staff. make sure they do share tips, and again 20e PP is reasonable for a week of what I would hope would be excellent service.

Chalet hosts will only be earning between $100-$200/week. HOWEVER, because major expenses such as accommodation, food and ski passes are covered, you will not need to spend much money through the season. You will also have an opportunity to earn tips!
