What are the hazards of hydro jetting work?

Common hazards and risks include the water jet piercing the skin, being hit by flying debris and exposure to noise. Other hazards associated with high pressure water jetting include working in confined spaces, fall hazards, respiratory and eye hazards, electric shock and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals.

What are the hazards of blasting?

Abrasive blasting operations can create high levels of dust and noise. Abrasive material and the surface being blasted may contain toxic materials (e.g., lead paint, silica) that are hazardous to workers. Silica sand (crystalline) can cause silicosis, lung cancer, and breathing problems in exposed workers.

What is primary blasting?

Primary blasting involves breaking down of in-situ rock in development and stoping as well as by drilling holes in rocks. Secondary blasting is performed to get rid of overburden. Drill and blast design is a key component of mine planning and management. Its major impacts are on safety and efficiency.

How is sandblasting done?

Sandblasting is process of smoothing and cleaning a hard surface by forcing solid particles across that surface at high speeds using compressed air. There are two kinds of sandblasters: “Suction” / “Siphon”” & “Pressure” Blast Systems. There are two basic kinds of sand blasters: Blast Cabinets & Portable Blasters.

What is drilling and blasting method?

Drilling and blasting is the controlled use of explosives and other methods such as gas pressure blasting pyrotechnics, to break rock for excavation. It is practiced most often in mining, quarrying and civil engineering such as dam, tunnel or road construction. The result of rock blasting is often known as a rock cut.

Why is blasting used?
