Can you use SRAM eTap on Shimano cassette?

2. It’s possible to use a Shimano chain, cranks, and cassettes with SRAM eTap components without experiencing degraded performance. Each of the components should be designed for the same number of speeds. (e.g., 11-speed chain + 11 speed cassette…etc.)

Are eTap and AXS compatible?

The SRAM RED eTap AXS 36T Max rear derailleur is only compatible with SRAM AXS systems. It will communicate with AXS front derailleurs, drop bar shift levers, BlipBoxes, and controllers. It is not backwards compatible with SRAM RED eTap 11-speed components; they are not able to communicate with each other.

Does SRAM AXS work with Shimano cassette?

Considering these parts were never designed to play well together, the Sram GX AXS shifter and derailleur work perfectly on the Shimano XTR cassette.

Does eTap work with 11 speed?

New Red and Force AXS shifters will now work with 11-speed eTap derailleurs.

Are SRAM and Shimano cassettes interchangeable?

In some cases, it is possible to run a cassette from a different brand than the rest of your drivetrain. SRAM and Shimano cassettes, on either road or mountain bike, are interchangeable with each other as the spacing is the same between the sprockets.

Is SRAM 12-speed compatible with Shimano?

Technically, a SRAM cassette can work with a 12-speed Shimano chain. However, the combination doesn’t provide the benefits offered by Shimano’s 12-speed drivetrains. What is this? 12-speed Shimano chains and cassettes are designed to work in conjunction to optimize shifting under load.

What’s the difference between rival eTap and force eTap?

The biggest difference between Rival eTap AXS and SRAM’s other eTap AXS groups (Red eTap AXS and Force eTap AXS ) is materials and finish: Rival uses less expensive and heavier materials—no carbon here—and less fancy finishes. This means that, functionally, Rival eTap is almost identical to Red and Force.

Can you use SRAM AXS with 11 speed cassette?

Registered. You can use the Rival AXS shifters with an 11 speed etap rear derailleur for 11 speed cassettes. There’s no way to use 11 speed cassettes with the AXS shifters and AXS rear derailleur.

What is the difference between SRAM Red eTap and SRAM Force eTap?

Force eTap AXS, then, is identical in features and functions to Red eTap AXS, but cheaper and a bit heavier thanks to different materials. The only exception is that there’s no 50/37 chainset for Force, just a choice of 48/35 and 46/33.

Can you mix SRAM cassette with Shimano derailleur?

SRAM’s cassettes and chains are compatible with all of Shimano’s groupsets, and vice versa. Likewise, Shimano and SRAM buyers have the freedom to mix different levels of chains and cassettes so long as they are designed for the same kind of transmission.

What does AXS stand for SRAM?

With the release of its latest road and mountain bike products, SRAM also introduced a new technology it calls AXS (say “access”), essentially a way for all its wireless products to communicate so riders can more easily mix and match components from its different groups.

Are Shimano and SRAM 11 speed cassettes compatible?

If you ask Sram or Shimano, they will tell you that their 11 speed MTB cassettes are not compatible with one another.

Are SRAM cassettes better than Shimano?

Shimano cassettes have better spacing than sram ones. SRAM jumps from 42 to 50/52, while shimano jumps from 45 to 51. That’s a huge difference IMHO, that makes microspline cassettes worth it.

Are all 12 speed cassettes compatible?

The 12-speed cassette is designed to be backwards compatible with the existing 11-speed road freehub, while the 12 speed-specific freehub (available on Dura Ace hubs currently) can’t be used with the 11-speed parts. Sram HG-style cassettes are largely the same spacing as Shimano, with the 10 speed exception.

Is 11/32 cassette Good for hills?

Most riders can get away with a compact chainset 50 / 34 and an 11 – 32 cassette for their steepest hills. Many touring bikes and tandems still use triple chainsets, but they often have heavier loads to haul.

Can you use Shimano shifter with SRAM cassette?

The SRAM rear derailleur (mech) will not work with a Shimano shifter as is; the cable pull and shift activation ratios are not the same between the two systems.

Are Shimano and SRAM 11 speed cassettes compatible?

If you ask Sram or Shimano, they will tell you that their 11 speed MTB cassettes are not compatible with one another.

Is SRAM 10 speed compatible with Shimano?

All Shimano and SRAM cassettes up to 10 speed are broadly compatible. They all use Shimano’s Hyperglide II freehub body spline pattern. Cassettes with the same number of sprockets have the same sprocket spacing, sprocket width and overall width.

Are Shimano 11 and 12 speed compatibility?

A 12-speed chain can work with an 11-speed cassette. However, it’s recommended to avoid using a Shimano 12-speed chain because it doesn’t play well with 11-speed chainrings.

Are SRAM 11 and 12 speed cassettes interchangeable?

As it relates to the freehub, there is no compatibility difference between 11 and 12 speed Sram cassettes. SRAM RED eTap AXS and Force eTap AXS road cassettes use the XDR freehub.
