Snapping hip syndrome and running?

Runners may feel the sensation or hear the sound of snapping or clicking when their hip is flexed and extended. This occurs when a muscle or a tendon moves abnormally over a bone. In the hip, this can happen at the iliotibial bandiliotibial bandIliotibial tract. The part of the iliotibial band which lies beneath the tensor fasciae latae is prolonged upward to join the lateral part of the capsule of the hip-joint. The tensor fasciae latae effectively tightens the iliotibial band around the area of the knee.

Is it OK to run with snapping hip syndrome?

Keep in mind, not all runners need to stop running, but they may need to merely reduce their training load (distance, intensity, frequency) during the rehabilitation process. You should be able to bend and straighten your hip without pain. Your hip should not be swollen.
