Is tung oil the same as Waterlox?
waterlox is tung oil based, with a chemical added that in effect ‘starts’ the drying process before you ever get it in can form, and yes some added resins for durability. . the result of polymerized tung oils like waterlox is they dry faster and harder than raw tung oil.
Can you use Waterlox over tung oil?

How do you use Waterlox tung oil?
Apply Waterlox ORIGINAL Sealer/Finish liberally with the grain using a lamb’s wool applicator (floors) or a quality natural bristle brush or paint pad. Allow to dry for 24 hours. Repeat steps 2-4 for a second (for soft wood species, a third) coat.

How good is Waterlox?
Water does not penetrate at all. It will scratch like any wood finish but is holding up very well. I also chose this product because I read you don’t have to sand it down to reapply in the future like with poly urethane. We will see bit for now it still looks great, no water penetration, easy application.
