Details. – TY505 rear hubs are compatible only with 7 speed cassettes only, while TX505 hubs are compatible with 8-10 speed and some 11 or 12 speed cassettes.

Can you put an 11 speed cassette on a 8 speed hub?

Can you fit a 11 speed cassette on a 9 speed hub?

The 11 spd cassette will fit fine on the freehub. The problem may be the 9 spd RD won’t handle the 46t cog. Derailleurs have a spec capacity and max cog size. Capacity is the difference between the smallest and largest cog plus the difference between the smallest and largest chainring.

Is Hub 11 speed compatible?

You only need an 11 speed hub if you want a cassette smaller than 34t. Take off the cassette. If there’s a 1.85mm spacer behind the cassette, it’s an 11-speed freehub body and you can fit an 11-speed road cassette. If there’s not a spacer, it’s an 8/9/10/MTB-11 freehub body.

Do all cassettes fit all hubs?

Most cassette hubs are compatible with Shimano cassette cogs. SRAM cassettes and most Miche, IRD and SunRace cassettes use the same inter-sprocket spacing as Shimano, but at least some SRAM 10-speed cassettes do not fit aluminum-body Dura-Ace hubs.

Can I put an 11 speed cassette on a 7 speed hub?

11-speed MTB hubs also use 135mm spacing unless the system is boosted in which case the dropouts have to be even further apart. What is this? Therefore, if you’re trying to combine an 11-speed hub with a 7-speed cassette on a 7-speed frame, you will face a compatibility issue – the hub won’t fit into the frame.

How do I change my 8 speed to 11 speed?

You will have to buy a new 11-speed wheel and replace the entire wheel. On the other hand, if your current wheel is an 11-speed wheel, you can change to 11-speed by removing the low spacer from the low side of the 8-speed sprocket and installing an 11-speed sprocket.

Can I put a 11 speed cassette on a 10 speed hub?

Is a spacer needed for 11 speed cassette?

The answer is yes, you do need a spacer with an 11-speed cassette, but only if you run your 11 speed Shimano or SRAM drivetrain on a 10 or 9-speed freehub.

Can you change a 10 speed hub to an 11 speed?

Luckily, many common and not-so-common wheelsets, as long as they’re at least 10-speed, can be upgraded to 11-speed by purchasing a new cassette body. The body is the part that attaches to the center of the hub and drives the wheel and bike when you pedal.

Can you put a 11 speed cassette on a 12 speed hub?

The 12-speed cassette is designed to be backwards compatible with the existing 11-speed road freehub, while the 12 speed-specific freehub (available on Dura Ace hubs currently) can’t be used with the 11-speed parts. Sram HG-style cassettes are largely the same spacing as Shimano, with the 10 speed exception.

Are 10 speed and 11 speed hubs the same?

The Shimano (and SRAM) 11-speed freehub is wider than the 10-speed one, because the 11-speed Shimano (and SRAM) cogset stack height is taller than 10-speed.

Are Shimano 10 and 11 speed cassettes the same width?

11 speeds. Sprocket width is the same as for 10 speeds, so 10 speed sprockets can be used, provided that 11 speed spacers are used. Sprockets are 1.6 mm thick, spaced at 3.74 mm (road), or 3.9 mm (MTB).

Can I put an 8 speed cassette on a 10 speed hub?

Yes, it will fit fine. 8,9,10spd freehubs are the same. If it’s road you’re talking about then you’ll need a 1mm spacer behind the cassette if it’s Shimano, if it’s MTB then it’ll go straight on.

Can I fit a 9 speed cassette on an 8 speed hub?

Yes. 8 and 9 speed cassettes are interchangeable.

Can a 10 speed cassette fit on a 8 speed hub?

Also be aware that prolonged use of a 10-speed cassette on an 8/9-speed freehub body will cause dents to form in the freehub body (because the 10-speed cogs are so narrow). The 10-speed freehub bodies have taller splines, so they avoid this problem (but don’t work with 8- or 9-speed cassettes).

Can I put a 9 speed cassette on a 8 speed hub?

Yes. 8 and 9 speed cassettes are interchangeable.

Can I put a 10 speed cassette on a 9 speed hub?

You can put a new 10 or 11 speed cassette on any of the older 9 speed hubs. So, regardless of brand, feel free to buy your wheels a nicely upgraded new steed.

Can I put a 8 speed cassette on a 7 speed hub?

There are a very few exceptions: 7-speed hubs won’t normally accept 8-, 9- or 10 speed cassettes without modification. Click here for details. 7-speed cassettes fit fine on 8- and 9-speed (and most 10-speed) hubs if you put a 4.5 mm spacer onto the body before the cassette.

Do I need a spacer for 11 speed cassette?

The answer is yes, you do need a spacer with an 11-speed cassette, but only if you run your 11 speed Shimano or SRAM drivetrain on a 10 or 9-speed freehub.
