No. If the protein consumed is not immediately needed by the body for repair or maintenance the calories consumed will be stored as fat and the amino acids are excreted by the kidneys. The body is very efficient. It will not use up energy to build muscle if there is no need for it.

Protein supplements — in the form of shakes and bars — are no exception. They work best when used as part of a training program since they fuel your muscles into growth and increase fat burning. The doctors say that incorporating protein supplements in your diet with no workout at all is not recommended.
Does excess protein turn into fat?
High-protein diets may tout weight loss, but this type of weight loss may only be short-term. Excess protein consumed is usually stored as fat, while the surplus of amino acids is excreted. This can lead to weight gain over time, especially if you consume too many calories while trying to increase your protein intake.
