Warning signs of a muscle imbalance include:

  1. Training in only one sport or targeting only one muscle group.
  2. Poor posture.
  3. Noticeable difference in strength, flexibility or balance on one side of the body versus the other side.
  4. Pain is not connected to a specific injury.

How do you evaluate muscle weakness and imbalance?

To identify muscular imbalance in their body, some athletes use photos taken from angles other than a straight-on mirror view. This helps them see where their body is symmetrical and where they may have some size imbalances. These photos can help identify imbalances in muscle pairs affecting: head position.

How do I know which muscles are weak?

Symptoms of muscle weakness include difficulty rising from a chair, brushing your hair, lifting an object off a high shelf, or dropping things. It might cause drooping of an eyelid or difficulty smiling, depending on which muscles are weak.

What are four common muscle imbalances?

Whether you’re a mother who spends your days caring for an infant or an executive who spends hours in front of a computer screen, you might have these four muscle imbalances: rounded shoulders and hunched back, anterior pelvic tilt, and a forward neck.

What do muscle imbalances feel like?

When a muscle imbalance pulls one of your joints out of position, this puts a strain on that joint. When that strain stresses the nerves around the joint, you feel pain. If your body readjusts itself to ease the pain, other sets of muscles can become imbalanced – and the cycle can continue.

How do you test muscle strength?

For grade one ask your patient to do the exact same thing and this time you will see or feel a muscle flicker or trace of movement.

How do you determine muscle tone and power?

With the patient's arm in the same position put your hands below her arms. And have her push downward to test upper arm strength have the patient flex your elbows to 90 degrees.
