Where most other resins need to be applied in thin layers, this epoxy resin can be poured into a layer that is as thick as 2 inches. You can expect a slow curing period due to a low exothermic rate, meaning that the resin does not produce as much heat while curing.

How thick should my epoxy table be?

As long as you pour in 1/8″ layers, you can go as thick as you like. The reason we recommend this thickness is two-fold: first, it allows the bubbles to escape properly, and second, it avoids any excessive overheating of the resin. So for best results always pour in a 1/8″ layer, and you’re good to go!

Most dining or conference tables we make land somewhere between 1.75” and 2.25” finished. This is typically easy to accomplish with well dried slabs with “minimal” drying movement that for us start at 2 3/8” thick if under 24” wide or 2 7/8” thick if 24”-36” wide.

What happens if you pour epoxy too thick?

If your epoxy pour is too thick, the reaction can create too much heat, resulting in a product that does not cure properly with cracks or excessive bubbles. You can pour the next layer after the previous pour has gone through its heat cycle, which is usually around 24 hours.
