The BLET course has been thoroughly researched, legally reviewed and contains the most current law enforcement information available. The Commission-mandated 640-hour course takes approximately 16 weeks to complete and concludes with a comprehensive written exam and skills testing.
How hard is Blet in NC?
The BLET program spans over 18 weeks of intense training divided into 36 topics of instruction. Approximately 65% is in the classroom and 35% is practical hands-on training. Students must master all 36 topics to be eligible to take the state certification exam.

How many times can you take the NC Blet state exam?
Each student is allowed only three (3) make-up tests per BLET course. The student will not receive a grade higher than 80 % on any make-up test, and you must retake the test within 14 days.
How hard is Fletc training?
Train hard and follow this guidance and you will do well. Overall, FLETC is somewhat like a combination of a police academy, college and Disney Land (and very different from what I went through in my previous state police academy).

Can you have your cellphone at FLETC?
Phones are provided in each dormitory room with procedures on their use. Long distance phone calls from your room must be made with a calling card or collect.
Can you fail FLETC?
If you score below 70% twice during the FLETC portion of your training program (either on two different examinations or on one examination and one remedial), you will be considered to have failed the training program. You will be removed from training and returned to your duty station for further action.
What do you wear at FLETC?
Students are encouraged to bring their issued leather gear, ballistic vest and a “protective cup.” It is not necessary to bring duty weapons because the FLETC will provide them and leather gear, as needed. FLETC uniforms will be provided*; however, students can wear personal navy-blue BDUs.
Do you have roommates at FLETC?
1. It depends on what dorm you end up in but for the most part the room will be single occupancy. Some of the “crack houses” on the far side of the academy will have a shared bathroom while rooms in the “Taj” are basically small motel rooms with couches, a fridge and a microwave.
