Q: I’ve been using TERRO® liquid ant bait for the past few days. When should I remove the bait stations? A: We recommend leaving the bait out for three to four days after signs of ant activity diminish. If no more ants appear, remove the bait, relax and enjoy being ant-free!

How often should I replace TERRO ant bait?

You’ll want to replace with fresh bait if it becomes hardened or if you’ve had the same bait for more than one year. Another good rule of thumb is to check the product packaging for specific information on how frequently to replace. For instance, the T300 TERRO® Liquid Ant Baits should be replaced every 3 months.

Terro Liquid Ant Bait is a sweet liquid containing sodium tetraborate decahydrate, better known as borax. The bait kills individual ants within 48 hours after they consume it. During that time, an exposed ant carries the bait back to the nest and spreads it to other ants, killing them as well.

Does TERRO kill the colony?

While the active ingredient in the TERRO® ant bait will ultimately kill the worker ants by interfering with their digestive system, it is designed to kill slowly. This slow kill gives the foraging ants enough time to return to their nest and deliver the deadly bait to the rest of the colony.

If they found an alternate food source. If they have found one a new fountain one take that away and put out more fresh bait. They'll find the taro. And eventually hit on it.

Make sure that the bait you use is acceptable to the ants. If the ants show no interest in the bait, try a different bait until you find one that they will will readily eat.
