How do shot skis work?

The shotski takes communal shots to the next level, encouraging everyone to cozy up next to each other to drink in unison from shot glasses secured onto a ski. Much like beer pong tables and grenadine, shotskis shouldn’t be bought in a store but rather made at home.

What is a shot ski?

A “shotski,” as it’s called, involves several shot glasses placed equidistant apart across the deck of a discarded downhill ski, allowing several folks to concurrently down a shot. Shotskis are the sizzling fajitas of the barroom—you can’t help but notice when someone orders one.

How do you take ski shots?


So that I can put in a magnet. And then also attach to wash it to the bottom of the shot glass. And so rather than actually drilling the hole all the way through like I did on the template.

How far apart should shot glasses be on a shot ski?

about 18 inches

Divide your measurement into four (or more) equal lengths, and mark the center of the ski’s width at each division with a permanent marker. Ideally, you want about 18 inches between the glasses.

How do you hang a shot ski on the wall?

A 3 step guide to hanging your shot ski on the wall:

  1. Line up the ski where you want it on the wall and mark the spot at the top of the highest hole.
  2. Bang a nail in the wall where you marked the spot (we like the darker nails as they look a little nicer)
  3. Plonk your ski up on the nail – job done!

Who invented the shot ski?

The origin of the shotski is unknown – though some say it began in Norway where skis were invented, while others say it was invented in Austria, where it’s known as the schnappski. One source almost tracked down its origins with the University of British Columbia’s ski steam.
