If your fork is from China you can identify your fork as follows: On the left side of the lower you should find a sticker. This is for model identification. The needled number on the crown is for production date identification.

SR SunTour is a Taiwanese manufacturer of bicycle components, formed in 1988 when Osaka based SunTour (Maeda) went bankrupt and was purchased by Sakae Ringyo Company (abbreviated S.R.), a major Japanese maker of aluminum parts, particularly cranks and seat posts.
Do Suntour forks use oil?
All SR SUNTOUR forks are lubricated from our factory using proprietary grease. This grease can break down over time and have an oil-like appearance.

Please don’t use WD40, GT85 or any similar products! Instead of cleaning your seals, they will wash away the grease under the seals, letting dirt in much more easily– even if you’re careful you will also risk contamination of brake rotors/pads and these products can also dry out seals.

To start with, you’ll want to apply Forkboost to the base of your fork stanchions. The best way to do that is to drip it directly onto the stanchion just above the dust seals on your fork. If you’re using it on a rear shock, flip the bike upside down and apply lube just above the dust seal.

It will just steer a little different. Probably a bit more stable at higher speeds, but not as easy to negotiate tight, switchback turns. Might handle downhill a little bit better.
Does suntour make good shocks?
The higher-level Suntour forks and shocks are very good. Don’t judge them by the bottom budget forks.
