How do you pump air into FoX shocks?
To change the air pressure in your shock:
- Remove the Schrader air valve cap from the shock.
- Thread the pump’s valve chuck onto the shock’s air valve until pressure registers on the pump gauge. This takes approximately 6 turns. …
- Stroke the pump a few cycles. The pressure should increase slowly.
How do you fill a FoX shock?
Quote from video: And the schrader valve is the same type of valve that you'll find to air up a tire. Once you get it all the way tightened down get yourself a wrench just give it another another bit of a tighten.
Can I use air instead of nitrogen in shocks?
is it ok to fill a shock with regular air instead of nitrogen ? will it cause any damage to the shock or affect how it performs vs nitrogen? air has moisture, that could corrode the inside of the shock. also air expands with heat, which changes the shocks handling characteristics, nitrogen does not.
How do you put air in your rear shocks?
Quote from video: At make sure double check the gauge on the correct pressure and then unscrew it quickly so you don't lose all your pressure screw back on the dust.
How much air should I put in my Fox Float shock?
Blur
FOX Float DPS | ||
---|---|---|
Rider Weight | Air Pressure | Shock Sag |
120lbs (54.4kg) | 150 psi | 9-11mm |
140lbs (63.5kg) | 175 psi | 9-11mm |
160lbs (72.6kg) | 200 psi | 9-11mm |
How do you pump up a Fox Float rear shock?
Quote from video: Crank it clockwise more air counter clockwise less air typically. You want more air in the shock are more air volume I should say that's going to give you the best ride the other adjustment is going
How much air should I put in my shock?
Keep in mind that air shocks are like tires: you shouldn’t operate the air shocks with no air in them. For a manual system, you should have a minimum of 20 PSI in the shocks. When under load, add only enough air pressure to maintain level ride height.
How much psi should I put in my rear shock?
The exact PSI you end up with depends on how plush/firm you want the rear shock to be, but a good starting point is 1 psi for 1 lbs in weight of the rider (including riding gear). Then just add/remove air to your liking.
Is there a break in period for Fox shocks?
Yes. There is normally a break in period for forks and shocks.
Can I use air instead of nitrogen?
The answer is yes, we should – especially when it comes to our airplanes! Though regular shop air does the job and is always acceptable in a pinch, dry nitrogen should be your gas of choice whenever possible. Nitrogen is an inert gas and is less affected by temperature than compressed air.
How do you check nitrogen pressure in Fox shocks?
Quote from video: And screw it onto the shock. Step 2 is to screw the valve on the shock pressure gage into the shock you'll see the gauge display how much pressure is inside the shock.
Why are shocks filled with nitrogen?
The reason nitrogen gets used in shocks is because of the lack of moisture. Dried air could be used for the same reason. If a shock filled w/ ‘normal’ is cycled fast and often enough, it will begin to heat up. Moisture will expand and change the dynamic of the shock (basically increase spring rate).
What pressure should my Fox forks be?
Sag should be set to 15 – 20% of total fork travel
Suggested Starting Points for Setting Sag | ||
---|---|---|
Rider Weight (lbs) | Rider Weight (kgs) | 34 FLOAT Pressure (psi/ bar) |
120-130 | 54-59 | 58psi/ 4.0 bar |
130-140 | 59-64 | 63psi/ 4.3 bar |
140-150 | 64-68 | 68psi/ 4.7 bar |
How much psi should I put in my Fox Float x2?
Sag is the amount your suspension compresses under your weight and riding gear. Sag should be set to ~30% of total shock travel.
Do not exceed 300 psi (17.2 bar), the maximum FLOAT X2 air pressure!
Suggested Sag Measurements | |
---|---|
Travel | 30% Sag |
51mm/ 2.00in | 15mm/ 0.60in |
55mm/ 2.25in | 17mm/ 0.68in |
What is the maximum pressure for air shocks?
Pump your shock up correctly for consistant performance
How do I pump my suspension?
Quote from video: First you need to unscrew the red dial. So that does not press down the pin for the schrader. Valve. Then unscrew the silver dial. Then you can disconnect the pump.
How do you pump up a Fox 36 forks?
Remove the bottom nut and crush washer. Compress the fork as much as possible. The air piston will be visible about one inch below the top of the upper tube. Push the bottom of the air shaft upwards to push the air piston out of the top of the upper tube.
How do you remove air from Fox shock?
Quote from video: The next thing you want to do is let the air out of the shock. Then push down the saddle cycle the shock a few times. And let any remaining air pressure out.
Can you use a normal pump for shocks?
You need a shock pump a normal pump will not work. Shock pumps are high pressure, low volume while normal pumps are low pressure, high volume.
How do you pressurize shocks?
Quote from video: Step 3 we're going to use our nitrogen filling tank to pressurize the shock fill the shock with some pressure. And I like using a screw driver on this valve here just bleed off the pressure.
Can you pump up a shock with a floor pump?
Registered. The short answer is no, it will not work properly. You might be able to get some air in there but you’ll never be able to get the right quantity. The volume on air shocks is so small that you’ll never get an accurate reading from a floor pump.
