Pumpkins and apples float in the water because they are less dense than the water – meaning they are buoyant. The fall fruits contain a lot of air (even pumpkins because they are mainly hollow inside despite their size).Sep 24, 2018
Why did my pumpkin sink?
Pumpkins, although large, aren’t very dense because they are mainly hollow inside. Given their large size, though, they displace a large amount of water. With a mainly hollow interior, it’s easy for a pumpkin to weigh less than the large amount of water it displaces!

Do real mini pumpkins float?
