Can I use a 10 speed brake lever shifter If I have a 7 gear cassette

No, you can’t. Indexed shifting requires all the components to be precisely matched. The shifters, derailleurs, chain and cassette all need to be compatible.

Can I use 10 speed derailleur with 7 speed cassette?

No, you cannot. A bike with a 7-speed cassette would also come with a 7-speed shifter and a chain that is compatible with 7-speed cassettes. This will make it impossible for a 10-speed derailleur to work on it. This is because a 7-speed shifter and a 10-speed derailleur have different pull ratios.

Can I use a 9 speed shifter with a 7 speed cassette?

If you used a 7 speed cassette, with a 9 speed shifter and 7 speed derailleur you would not pull enough cable and the shifts will get mangled. If you are currently on 7 Speeds, this means you have a 7 speed wheel that will most likely NOT take a 9 speed cassette.

Can you use 10 speed shifters 8 speed cassette?

A 10 speed chain should work on an 8-speed drivetrain. if you want 10 speeds, you will need a 10 speed-specific chain, cassette, derailleur and shifter (and a new cable while you’re at it).

Can you use different shifters with Shimano derailleurs?

Shimano derailleur compatibility

Most 8- and 9-speed Shimano mountain bike and road kit is inter-compatible because they both use the same cable pull ratio. This means that you can use an 8 -or 9-speed mountain bike derailleur with road shifters or vice versa.

Can I use 9-speed derailleur with 7 speed cassette?

Can I use a 9-speed derailleur on a 7-speed cassette? The answer is yes because the rear shift ratio of 9-speed and 7-speed derailleurs is the same if you stay within the same brand. Shimano 7-speed derailleurs have a rear shift ratio of 1.7 whereas that of SRAM 7-speed derailleurs is 1.1.

Can I fit a bigger cassette on my bike?

Yes, almost any bike is compatible with bigger cassettes, bike drivetrain is groupset of components that works in perfect harmony, any miss reconfiguring can break the perfect functionality of the system, parts that need to be changed and reconfigured when putting bigger cassette which is long-chain, wide cage

Can you use a 8 speed shifter on a 7 speed cassette?

It will work but as JackM. states make sure you limits are adjusted precisely. You also have to decide if you want to risk over shifting on the low gear or high side.

Can I put a 8 speed cassette on a 7 speed bike?

Can you run an 8sp cassette on a 7sp body? Sure, just drop off the small cog, add a thin spacer on the back of the cassette to take up the resulting very slight free play (may or may not need that depending on the cassette you use – my experience is with taking the 11t cog off an 11-28 8sp XT cassette).

Will a 7 speed rear derailleur work with 8 speed cassette?

yes it will work.

Will 10 speed shifter work with 11-speed cassette?

No, that will not work. The shifts will not line up across the entire range, because an 11-speed cassette is not just a 10-speed cassette with an extra cog stuck on at the same spacing.

Will 10 speed shifters work 9 speed cassette?

Condensed Answer: 10-speed Shimano and SRAM MTB derailleurs have a different rear shift ratio than 9-speed derailleurs and cannot be effectively combined with a 9-speed shifter and cassette.

Will a 10 speed rear derailleur work with an 8 speed cassette?

You will need a 10 spd rear derailleur to work with a 10 spd cassette, because the spacing is smaller with a 10 spd setup. You will need a 10 speed chain for a 10 speed setup, a 9 speed chain for a 9 speed setup and any 8 speed chain will work on 8-7-6 speed or lower.

How do I change my 7 speed cassette to 9 speed?

Quote from video: Along there thing you cannot update beyond a seven speed cassette.

Will a 9 speed shifter work on a 8 speed cassette?

If your current wheel has a 8 speed cassette a 9 speed cassette will fit. You will need a 9 speed chain. Change the shifter to a 9 speed one (with a 9 speed cassette fitted) and your old “8” speed derailleur will work fine. As others have said a 9 speed shifter won’t work on an 8 speed cassette.

Will a 9 speed cassette fit on an 8 speed hub?

Yes. 8 and 9 speed cassettes are interchangeable.

Will a 10-speed chain work on a 7 speed cassette?

Going further narrower, like a 10, or 11-speed chain on an 8-speed cassette can and often does work. I’ve had good results even with running a 10-speed chain on a 7-speed cassette and cranks.

Can you use 10-speed derailleur 8 speed cassette?

TL;DR: no, a SRAM 10-speed derailleur will not work with an 8-speed shifter. The reason behind it is kinda complex, though. With drivetrain compatibility, your shifter speeds always has to match your cassette speeds – that much is obvious.

Can I use a 8 speed derailleur on a 7 speed cassette?

8 speed shifter and cassette, 7 speed derailleur? You’ll be fine. There’s no “probably” about it. 6-, 7- and 8-speed gear is all cross-compatible in terms of chain width.

Can you use a 8 speed shifter on a 7 speed cassette?

It will work but as JackM. states make sure you limits are adjusted precisely. You also have to decide if you want to risk over shifting on the low gear or high side.
