California Highway Patrol is requiring chains in Frazier Park and Pine Mountain Club areas.

Please carry tire chains. California Highway Patrol does enforce chain control on the mountain. When stopping to put chains on, make sure you are parked in a safe area off the main road. Make sure the parking spot is on solid ground.

Frazier Park’s Cuddy Valley doesn’t get much snow during the winter and most of the winter the roads are clear. However, when you keep following Cuddy Valley Road and start climbing towards Mount Pinos, the road gets icy and snowy pretty soon.

DO I NEED-CHAINS? Yes. Everyone should keep a set of chains with them, even if you have a 4-wheel drive vehide. CHP does require that vehicles carry chains or traction control devices in order to access the mountain community roads when there is snow and ice on the ground.
