Can you mix and match Di2 components?
Did you know most 10-speed and 11-speed Di2 hardware is cross-series compatible? You can actually mix different series and even different generations of Di2 hardware, as long as you make sure you follow the Di2 compatibility chart!
Are Shimano shifters interchangeable?
Most 8- and 9-speed Shimano mountain bike and road kit is inter-compatible because they both use the same cable pull ratio. This means that you can use an 8 -or 9-speed mountain bike derailleur with road shifters or vice versa.
Are Dura-Ace and Ultegra Di2 compatible?
Yes, 11-speed Dura-Ace 9070 Di2 or Ultegra Di2 is 100 percent compatible with 10-speed Ultegra Di2.
Can I use Dura-Ace shifters with Ultegra derailleurs?
Thus, an Ultegra (6800/8000) 11-speed chain can be used with a Dura-Ace (9000/9100) 11-speed cassette. Similarly, there is no need to match the level of the chain and cassette to the rest of the groupset, so a 105 (5800) 11-speed cassette can be used with a Dura-Ace (9000/9100) 11-speed groupset.
What happens if your Di2 battery dies?
It doesn’t switch back to mechanical when the battery dies
SRAM Red eTap has a slight back-up in that the batteries are interchangeable, so if the rear mech goes you can borrow the battery out the front and hopefully have enough shifts to make it home.
Does Di2 need maintenance?
While electronic Di2/EPS shifting means you no longer need to replace derailleur cables and housings, brake cables and housings still deserve regular service, maintenance and replacement. Depending on how much you ride, and in what conditions, these items should be replaced every 2 to 5 years.
Can you mix and match Shimano components?
It is possible to mix and match as long as you get components from the same generation. For example: 9000 Dura Ace, 6800 Ultegra, and 5800 105 are all cross compatible. Each have 11-speeds in the rear, use the same cable pull per shift and use the same front derailleur design.
Are all rear derailleurs the same?
No, bike derailleurs are not universal. A derailleur that works with one bike may not work with another bike based on factors such as the cage length. Check the difference between the smallest and largest cogs and also the chainring size to determine the derailleur compatibility.
Will any shifter work with any derailleur?
No, different maker or different model with different number of “speed” shifters have different pull ratio (i.e. the length of cable pulled by a single shift). Usually it’s safe to use different model with same number of gears from the same maker.
Why is Dura-Ace better than Ultegra?
Although Dura Ace is considered to Shimano’s out-and-out performance groupset, surprisingly, Ultegra is generally deemed to be much more versatile, mainly because of the lower range of gears that it offers. While Ultegra cassettes go all the way up to 34 teeth, Dura Ace cassettes only go up to 30 teeth.
How many hours does Di2 last?
When used normally you can expect to get about 2500-3000km of riding out of a single charge, depending on how often you shift and how you shift. A Di2 front derailleur uses about 4 times more power than a rear derailleur will per shift.
What is the difference between Ultegra Di2 and Dura Ace Di2?
This means Ultegra Di2 is roughly 440g heavier than Dura-Ace Di2. But, you can save some weight by swapping the non-mechanical parts like crankset, brakes and cassette. On our scale, the shifters are 57g heavier, the front derailleur is 43g heavier, and the rear derailleur is 49g heavier.
How long does a Shimano Di2 battery last?
A modern Di2 battery will last between 2000 and 5000 kilometers per charge. This depends a bit on how often you shift and also your shifting style. The front derailleur has to work harder than the rear derailleur and therefore also consumes more energy.
How do I know if my Di2 battery is healthy?
Quote from video: So the battery indicator. If it's green as means it's between 75 percent and 100. Percent. If it blinks. Green then it's between 50 and 75. If it is solid. Red that's 25 to 50 percent.
What does a green and red light mean on Di2?
If you see a green light for about two seconds, you have a fully charged battery. If a green light flashes five times, the battery is at about 50 per cent. A solid red light means about 25 per cent of the battery’s charge left. A flashing red means that it’s almost dead.
Are Shimano 11 and 12 speed compatibility?
The 12-speed cassettes will work on any existing 11-speed Shimano-compatible wheel or smart trainer. Unlike past groups with short- and long-cage options, there is just a single Dura-Ace derailleur and a single Ultegra derailleur.
Can Di2 be fitted to any bike?
Ultegra 6770 Di2 wires are universal and can plug into anything — derailleurs, shifters or junction boxes. They come in a vast array of lengths, as they can be used anywhere in the system. Their connections are only 5mm in diameter and are waterproof without heat-shrink tubing required.
How do I upgrade Di2?
Quote from video: Place the internal battery will go in there further forward along here both levers obviously coming off di2 levers going on the gear cables coming off bar tape will be replaced.
What cassettes are compatible with GRX?
CASSETTE. GRX utilises 2 types of cassette, the double system will use a narrower spread road range cassette in ratios of 11/32 or 11/34. The 1x system will be equipped with an MTB style cassette with a wider ratio of 11-42 or thereabouts.
Can you mix GRX and Ultegra?
Compatibility of GRX with ULTEGRA for road bikes
Shimano’s GRX for gravel bikes and ULTEGRA for road bikes are compatible with ULTEGRA 6700 and above, and ULTEGRA is the only component that is compatible with all GRX models, including GRX electric shifting models, because ULTEGRA has Di2 models.
