Is freehub 11 speed compatible?
You can install a Campagnolo freehub body on your wheel and get a Campagnolo 11-speed cogset. It will shift fine with a Shimano or SRAM 11-speed system. And in case any of you were wondering, if you have a 10-speed Shimano or SRAM system and buy a wheelset now, you can still run 10-speed cogs on that wheel.
Are all 11 speed cassettes compatible?
When SRAM entered the road groupset market in 2006, it decided to adopt Shimano’s specifications for its chains and cassettes. As a result, the chains and cassettes from the two brands have always been completely interchangeable for any given type of transmission (e.g. 11-speed).
Can I put an 11 speed freehub on a 10 speed wheel?
Quote from video: So the eleven speed will slide further in back over the freehub. And it will be compatible.
Are all Freehubs compatible?
All the current (since the year 1990) freewheel hubs are compatible with all the 6 and 7 speed freewheel sprockets. Freewheel rear hub with threads, and freewheel sprockets that are screwed onto it.
Do I need a spacer for 11 speed cassette?
No Sram cassette requires the use of any additional spacers. If you are running Shimano or Sram 11 speed, the cassette will simply install directly on the freehub body with no spacers required. If you upgrade from 10 speed to 11 speed, you can remove all spacers and simply slide the cassette onto the freehub.
Will an 11 speed Shimano cassette fit on a 10 speed hub?
No, 11speed mountain cassettes are slightly wider than 10/9/8 speed ones, so newer Shimano free hubs come with a small spacer (only 1 or 2 mm) so they’re still compatible with older drive trains.
How do I know what cassette is compatible with my bike?
For a smooth ride, you need to have the right combination. For example, if your bike has a standard double 53/39 crankset, you can have slightly low gearing (12-27t) even if you ride in a hilly vicinity. But if you have a more compact crankset, say 50/34, you’ll be good having a 11-23 cassette.
Are Shimano 10 and 11 speed cassettes the same width?
The Benefits of Running an 11-speed Chain on a 10-speed Cassette. An 11-speed chain is 0.36-0.38mm narrower than an original 10-speed chain. However, it has the same internal width (1.6mm).
Are SRAM and Shimano 11 speed cassettes interchangeable?
In some cases, it is possible to run a cassette from a different brand than the rest of your drivetrain. SRAM and Shimano cassettes, on either road or mountain bike, are interchangeable with each other as the spacing is the same between the sprockets.
Can I put an 11 speed cassette on a 10 speed hub road bike?
You can use the 11 speed wheel with the 10 speed bike, so long as you use a 10 speed cassette and the right spacers. It’s usually cost prohibitive to upgrade from 10 speeds to 11. You need new shifters, new derailleur, new cassette, new chain.
Will an 11 speed cassette fit on an 8 speed hub?
An 11-speed road cassette cannot be installed on an 8-speed hub. The hub is too narrow and creates rubbing between the chain and the spokes when riding in the smallest gear.
Will a 11 speed cassette fit on a 9 speed hub?
An 11-speed cassette will fit on a 9-speed hub only when the hub is wide enough. Luckily, 8,9,10 and 11-speed mountain bike hubs have the same spacing, and one can therefore use an 11-speed cassette on all of them.
Does my freehub need a spacer?
You don’t need the spacer. You are correct, it is intended for when you are using a narrower cassette.
Do all cassettes fit all hubs?
Most cassette hubs are compatible with Shimano cassette cogs. SRAM cassettes and most Miche, IRD and SunRace cassettes use the same inter-sprocket spacing as Shimano, but at least some SRAM 10-speed cassettes do not fit aluminum-body Dura-Ace hubs.
Are Shimano 11 speed road and MTB cassette compatibility?
The only difference is the road freehub is a bit wider, so a MTB cassette can be fitted to an 11sp road hub as long as you use a (1.85mm?) spacer. An 11sp road cassette won’t fit on a MTB freehub.
Can I put an 11-speed cassette on an 8 speed hub?
An 11-speed road cassette cannot be installed on an 8-speed hub. The hub is too narrow and creates rubbing between the chain and the spokes when riding in the smallest gear. 3. 11-speed MTB cassettes can be installed on an 11-speed road hub with a 1.85mm spacer.
Can I put an 11-speed cassette on a 9 speed hub?
An 11-speed cassette will fit on a 9-speed hub only when the hub is wide enough. Luckily, 8,9,10 and 11-speed mountain bike hubs have the same spacing, and one can therefore use an 11-speed cassette on all of them.
Are 11-speed and 12 speed hubs compatible?
The 12-speed cassette is designed to be backwards compatible with the existing 11-speed road freehub, while the 12 speed-specific freehub (available on Dura Ace hubs currently) can’t be used with the 11-speed parts. Sram HG-style cassettes are largely the same spacing as Shimano, with the 10 speed exception.
Can you put a 11-speed cassette on a 12 speed hub?
Quote from video: It's absolutely awesome again good job shimano. So the new cassette is available in two different ratios we've got this one here which is the 11 to 30. And it also comes in 11.
Are Shimano 11 and 12-speed compatibility?
12-speed sprockets for road use are compatible with 11-speed wheels. The 12-speed sprocket for road use is shaped to be compatible with conventional 11-speed wheels, while increasing the number of slits in the freebody. In other words, it is compatible with both 12-speed wheels and 11-speed wheels.
How wide is a 11-speed freehub?
Without spacers, the freehub is just shy of 37mm (no accurate calipers on hand).
