What are the differences between Tiagra and 105/Ultegra chainrings

Is there a big difference between Shimano Tiagra and 105?

The Tiagra and 105 cassettes both feature nickel plated steel sprockets although the 105 version has an a spider arm and a lockring made from anodised aluminium and it’s considerably lighter. The biggest difference, though, is that a 105 cassette is 11-speed while a Tiagra one is 10-speed.

Is Shimano 105 compatible with Tiagra?

ULTEGRA, 105 and TIAGRA parts are compatible with each other up and down the 2×10 speed range. ULTEGRA, 105 and TIAGRA parts are compatible with each other as long as they have the same number of gears.

The latest incarnation of Shimano’s ‘serious entry-level’ Tiagra road groupset brings 10-speed transmissions to lower price levels for 2012 despite the general creeping up of bike prices over the past couple of years. And the new Tiagra isn’t a poor relation to Shimano’s spendier components.
